Jim Burgess


Born as James Michael Burgess on July 21, 1953 in Okeechobee, FL, Jim was a DJ in 1976 in Casbah, Atlanta and moved to New York to spin records at 12 West in 1977, followed in 1978 by Infinity, in 1979 by The Fun House and Paradise Garage, in 1980 at The Underground and in 1981 at The Saint. His career as Remixer started at Salsoul remixing “The Beat Goes On And On” by Ripple followed by numerous remixes for many different artists and record labels. When he decided to stop as DJ in 1981, he started studying voice at the Curtis Institute of Music and became a tenor singer at the Opera Company of Philadelphia and the Rittenhouse Opera Society. He died on January 18, 1993.
